Never do business with Tyler

Tyler came home from school today with this $20.00 bill. He told me that he finished writing his numbers from 6000 to 7000 and earned a full size Butterfinger. But on the way home, his friend Josh, said that he would pay $20.00 to Tyler for his candy bar. Now, I will give him props for his business savvy, but I had to calmly explain to him that this was not OK at all. Well, I ended up calling Josh's mom, (she thought it was hysterical), and we will be returning the money this afternoon before baseball practice.

Just too disgusting

Have you ever been so disgusted and disturbed about something that you couldn't even discuss it?? Well, last weekend, we went up to San Francisco. We had a great time visiting friends, (I will post pictures later), but something happened that I haven't been able to really talk about. We were walking along the pier, in dirty San Francisco, and I turn around just in time to see Tyler, my 6 1/2 year old, lean down and drink out of a RANDOM Panda Express cup sitting on the ground. I freaked out! It makes me want to vomit just thinking about it right now. Among other things, I asked "what is wrong with you?", which, I'm pretty sure in any parenting book they would tell you not to say. I was so mad! Well, later that night our friends asked him why he would drink out of a strange cup. He said that he was so thirsty he didn't even have enough saliva in his mouth to ask for a drink. Mercy! I can hardly take it.....

Raspberry Cookies

Here is the recipe for some very yummy raspberry cookies. Some of you have asked for it, so here it is.

RASPBERRY SHORTBREAD COOKIES
1 cup butter, softened
2/3 cup white sugar
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup seedless raspberry jam
GLAZE:
1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
3/4 teaspoon almond extract
1 TBSP. milk
DIRECTIONS
-Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
-In a medium bowl, cream together butter and white sugar until smooth. Mix in 1/2 teaspoon almond extract. Mix in flour until dough comes together. Roll dough into 1 1/2 inch balls, and place on ungreased cookie sheets. Make a small hole in the center of each ball, using your thumb and finger, and fill the hole with preserves.
-Bake for 14 to 18 minutes in preheated oven, or until lightly browned. Let cool 1 minute on the cookie sheet.
-In a medium bowl, mix together the confectioners' sugar, 3/4 teaspoon almond extract, and milk until smooth. Drizzle lightly over warm cookies.

Low Point

Well today I have officially hit a low point in my life. Yesterday, Hunter took the can of Spray Starch and was spraying Parker in the face. I took the can away, but put it on my bathroom counter. I'm sure you can see where this story is going. This morning, after finishing my hair, I grabbed the can of starch and sprayed my hair instead of using hairspray. Some may think--well, the starch should hold your hair too, not a problem. Unfortunately, starch in hair equals A LOT of flakes. The more I messed with it, the flakier it got, so I gave up. Now as I head to Costco, I look like I have some scalp disease!

A Mortifying Moment

So today I had to play the piano in primary because Becky was out of town. Anyway, they were talking about treating our bodies like temples, or something like that, honestly I wasn't really paying that much attention. I wasn't until I heard Tyler's name called. The primary president says, "Tyler, what is something good we can put in our bodies?" His answer: "Beer." And then he laughed. Oh if looks could kill.....

Christmas

I feel like I have been out of touch with the blogging world for awhile, so I figured I should post a couple of December pictures. My sister-in-law Sara bought the kids the cutest apron sets to wear while cutting out and decorating sugar cookies. Though this year I bought the sugar cookie mix from Costco where you just add a couple of ingredients. I know, I am slack, but it was a busy month. Anyway, we made the cookies, cut them out, and then we frosted them (with homemade frosting), and Tyler turned to me and said, "What is wrong with these cookies--they are hard as rocks. They might break Santa's teeth. Maybe he will let his reindeer eat them." So basically I have raised cookie snobs and unless they are homemade, they are only good enough for animals.

OK-this picture would have been even funnier if I got Brock's face as he was gagging. Anyone that knows Brock will appreciate this picture--he has the weakest stomach, it is quite ridiculous. This was on Christmas morning, right in the middle of opening up presents, we had to take Sawyer upstairs and give him a bath.
